Mother’s Day is coming up, and no matter who you are gifting, the best presents are ones that you put some heart and soul into and craft yourself.

I have always wanted to make my own candles, so after finding some genuine candle scents at my local Goodwill Keystone Area outlet, I picked up a tea cup set, some wicks, and soy candle melts. With a microwave, it’s easy to melt the wax, add your scent (my choice was lavender), and pour your candle after tacking down the wick with a dab of hot glue. There are plenty of tutorials online – be sure to view a few before giving it a go.

The next gift is even simpler – find a small ceramic novelty and add an air plant! I found the most adorable pink Scottie dog planter and picked up an air plant at my local garden store. Adorable and quick! I’ve also seen things like this made into pin cushions.

These two DIY projects are easy, inexpensive, and perfect for the mom in your life. Check your local Goodwill Keystone Area store for craft supplies to create one-of-a-kind gifts!

From my closet to yours,
Kirsten
