Goodwill Keystone Area staff, board members, and local business and government leaders gather to celebrate the reopening of Goodwill’s Elizabethtown store and donation center.

The thrift store, located at 2375 S. Market St. in Elizabethtown, brings back a total of 25 jobs to the community. Since reopening, Goodwill is seeing about 100 community members drop off donations each week and more than 1,500 weekly customers purchasing donated items.

“Today is a celebration, as we are once again accepting donations from Elizabethtown-area residents and offering gently used secondhand goods to the community at affordable prices,” Goodwill Keystone Area President and CEO Ed Lada said. “It is also a celebration of continuing to support our mission, a mission to advance sustainability so that individuals and families can thrive and flourish.

“Proceeds from donated items sold here and in stores throughout the 22 counties we serve fulfill this mission. Our goal is to create pathways toward generational wealth. We want to improve lives through the power of work, enhance the stock of the family and help people reach what they define as their successes.”

The store underwent extensive remodeling for the past two years. While the location was closed for renovations, it operated from a temporary location in Mount Joy.
