Project SEARCH

In Partnership with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation

Project SEARCH is a collaborative initiative with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR). Initially conceived at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, this program aims to facilitate the smooth transition of individuals with disabilities from school to work. Its ultimate objective is to secure competitive employment opportunities in inclusive environments for all program participants.

Lasting for a duration of nine to 12 months, Project SEARCH encompasses a series of internships within various host businesses, in addition to comprehensive classroom training in essential employability skills and independent living. Originally designed for transition-age youth, the program has now expanded to encompass young adults as well.

Project SEARCH currently operates in the following counties:

  • Berks
  • Cumberland
  • Dauphin
  • Lehigh

Additionally we operate youth specific Project SEARCH in the following cities:

  • Allentown
  • Reading

A day in the life of a Project SEARCH intern

  • 8:30AM – 9:30AM - Classroom instruction
  • 9:30AM – 10:00AM - Travel to worksites (Transportation provided for off-site locations)
  • 10:00AM – 2:00PM - Working at worksite (30 minute lunch)
  • 2:00PM – 2:30PM - Travel from worksite
  • 2:30PM – 3:00PM - Reflection/Journal Writing/Dismissal
