January is "Get Organized" Month - Sharpen Your 2020 Vision with Goodwill

HARRISBURG, Pa. (Jan. 21, 2020) – It’s not only the season for New Year’s resolutions, but for new decade’s resolutions. January is Get Organized Month, and Goodwill Keystone Area encourages everyone in our community to rethink home organization with a long-term perspective.

Here is Goodwill’s three-step guide to getting organized for the upcoming decade:

1. Look back: Do you have a digital camera that hasn’t been touched in 10 years? What about long-outgrown baby clothes? Letting go of what you no longer use gives you a clear outlook in your home.

2. Look forward: Have a new hobby that’s starting to crowd you out of your own living room? Make room for crafting, woodworking, pickling or home brewing by reclaiming your underutilized basement or garage. By thinking intentionally about how you’ll use your space in the years to come, you can get organized for the future.

3. Stay present: Take just a few minutes each day to think about what you’re really using. When you allow yourself to think clearly about what you really need right now, you’ll land on a clear vision for what you can let go.

Once you’ve given your home its “2020 vision,” take your gently used clothing and household items to Goodwill so they can serve the resolutions of a new family, a budding young photographer or someone else in your community.

By making a generous donation to Goodwill, you not only help visualize your own 2020 goals but also help those in our community attain vital job skills, explore employment opportunities and make a positive social impact. The proceeds of donated items sold at Goodwill stores fund the organization’s mission of providing job-training programs and employment services for people with disabilities and other barriers to independence.
