Goodwill Earns Acclaimed Accreditation for Quality of its Job-Training and Support Services

HARRISBURG, Pa. (February 26, 2019) – Goodwill Keystone Area’s employment-related services were recognized with a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International, an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human service providers. CARF’s three-year accreditation represents the highest level of certification that can be awarded to an organization and is a mark of distinction among agencies that provide such services.

The accreditation process provides external review of the agency’s policies, procedures and services to determine its commitment to continuous improvement and to international standards of quality. After onsite visits by a CARF survey team and a thorough examination of Goodwill’s operations, facilities and service delivery, the organization was awarded accreditation for its Employment Supports and Job Development services through November 2021.

“We are extremely proud to have achieved this high level of accreditation,” said John McHenry, president and CEO of Goodwill Keystone Area. “This recognition is validation of our team’s hard work and commitment to prepare people with disabilities and other barriers to independence for a variety of stable career options and, in turn, a more productive and sustainable way of life.”

In announcing their accreditation decision, CARF noted, “It is apparent the Goodwill Keystone Area has worked diligently to prepare and offer person-centered services to a challenging population. The leadership and staff embrace the organization’s mission and strive to support persons with disabilities and other barriers to reach their full potential.”

The statement goes on to say, “Goodwill Keystone Area has achieved good outcomes in its programs and services, and it has also achieved high levels of satisfaction from its clients, referral sources, employers and other stakeholders.”
