Mission
Where the Money Goes
Your Goodwill is many things; a retailer; an industrial contracts
operation; a major recycler of textiles, a charitable non-profit
organization. But most importantly, we are a leader in employment,
training and work force development services. Through the sale
of
donated goods in our retail stores, we are able to fund training
programs and services designed to assist individuals with disabilities
and other barriers develop independence and employability.
Here’s how you help your Goodwill by donating
and shopping at a Goodwill store:
The Goodwill Donation Cycle
- Our philosophy for donating is, “Give to Goodwill what
you would give to a friend.”
- You donate items to Goodwill.
We accept everything from clothing and accessories to housewares,
furniture and cars. Our conveniently located stores and attended
donation centers are always staffed with friendly Goodwill representatives
who receive your donation and issue receipts, when requested,
for tax purposes. All donations are tax-deductible by law. By
recycling your gently used household items, you are also helping
the environment by diverting usable goods that might otherwise
end up in landfills.
- Your donated items are processed
for resale by Goodwill and sold in our
stores. Some Goodwill employees are graduates of our programs,
or currently enrolled in training.
- Proceeds from the sale of your donation help to fund training
and employment services. Goodwill's training programs prepare
individuals with disabilities and other barriers for competitive
employment and independence in the community.
- Goodwill graduates secure meaningful employment in our community.
Our workforce development staff work with participants to find
jobs and, in doing so, give local businesses access to dependable,
well-trained employees.
- Through the support of our donors, Goodwill helps the local
community prosper. Individuals with barriers to employment benefit
from services and become contributing members of our local community.
Thanks to you, your Goodwill is helping to build better communities,
one job at a time!
