Goodwill has many success stories to celebrate

and this year we presented awards to individuals in each of our three affiliates recognizing their

outstanding efforts.

Lancaster County

Thomas Krupa

Achiever of the Year

Tom has been bagging groceries at the Giant supermarket in Elizabethtown for over five years!  He has earned several raises during that time.  Recently he received a special letter of thanks form the Giant Corporation for his years of service along with a bonus.  That letter, along with Tom's hard work, prompted the staff at Goodwill to select Tom for the Achiever of the Year award.

Jose Camacho

Graduate of the Year

Jose has worked at Beechdale Animal Supplies Inc. for a year and a half as an Animal Specialist.  The owner of Beechdale states that Jose is a great worker.  Jose is always on time, doesn't call off work and is willing to do any tasks asked of him.

Glenn Weaver

Trainee of the Year

Glenn is a man of excellent character.  He is a man of his word and is known for doing his best, all the time.  No one could have a better work ethic tahn Glenn.  In fact, he works so hard that he needs to be asked to slow down.  Because of all the qualities mentioned, along with the many personal challenges he has mastered makes Glenn truly deserving of this award.

Achiever of the Year
Linda Jackson

Linda started in the transitional employment program at the Federal Building in 1989, were she only worked 4 hours a day.  When Linda first came to the program she needed ongoing supervision to make sure that she got all of her assigned tasks completed.

In 2002 Linda transferred over to the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot, were she started to work more independently.  Linda now works 7.5 hours a day, 5 days a week.   Linda now knows how to do all her assigned tasks very well and can go into any area at the Naval Depot and clean everything correctly and in a timely manner.  Linda also has developed a great confidence in herself, she now lives on her own and takes public transportation to the places she needs to go. Linda has been doing so well that in a couple of months she will become an employee of Goodwill.

But Lisa didn’t giveup and she and Goodwill staffer, Sharon Orange, looked for the “right job” for more than a year before finding the position at BJ’s.  She has overcome many obstacles and her dedication to her work has made her the perfect candidate for this award.

Achiever of the Year
Neil Rielly

Neil is a 2003 High School graduate of the Wordsworth Academy.  He is employed with Walmart at the Neshaminy Mall location as a cart pusher.  This is Neil’s first job and he works very hard at being successful.

Although the job tasks were sometimes difficult for Neil, he stuck with it and demonstrated a great work ethic.  Then it was time for Walmart’s Grand opening, and Neil had to learn a new set of job duties as a cart pusher.  He made it through the very hectic and exhausting opening day.  Since then he has continued to show growth on both employment and personal levels.  Neil has improved his motivation and ability to take the initiative at work.
