About

The Goodwill Industries Keystone Area Foundation supports innovative services for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to independence, helping them to reach their full potential as workers and members of the broader community. The Foundation seeks financial support for the services provided by Goodwill and similar organizations through annual giving, planned giving and bequests.
Established Jan. 12, 2004, the Foundation had its origin in the merger of the local Goodwill organizations in Harrisburg, Lancaster, Reading and the surrounding 22 counties in Pennsylvania to form Goodwill Industries Keystone Area. With the future of public funding uncertain, the combined Goodwill organization decided that the best way to ensure the continued availability of services to meet the needs of people with disabilities was to concentrate financial resources, fundraising skills and investment expertise in a new organization.
Charitable Status
The Goodwill Industries Keystone Area Foundation is classified by IRS as a tax-exempt 501c3 supporting organization, and is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue as an Institution of Purely Public Charity.
Changing Lives
The following stories are just a few examples of how Goodwill affects individuals’ lives.
The Foundation exists to
ensure that the futurewill provide that same
promise to individuals for years to come.
Krista came to Goodwill after graduating from high school. Her excellent work ethic coupled with the support of the Goodwill team established her as a candidate for competitive employment. With Goodwill’s support, Krista has been working in the restaurant industry for more than three years.
Elmer, a former standout running back on his high school football team, sought Goodwill’s help, as he was unable to maintain employment for longer than a
few weeks at a time. For him, independence had been reduced to a long-forgotten memory. Goodwill staff members recognized Elmer’s potential and encouraged and supported him as he began the journey toward establishing himself as a productive, reliable employee. Today, Elmer enjoys great success at a local automotive business where he manages tire inventory, makesdeliveries and performs maintenance.
Linda is another one of the many people whose lives have been touched by Goodwill. Working closely with a Goodwill supervisor, Linda successfully completed the transitional employment program. Since 2005 she has been an important team member of the janitorial crew at the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot.
