Growing food.....so people can grow!

Notes from the Farm:

June 2008

Hello from the farm!

We are hard at work getting ready for the first harvest this week, June
5, 6, and 7.

Harvest schedule: Pick up your food *any* of these days and times each
week whichever suits you best.

Thurs: 3-7pm
Fri 11-7pm
Sat 9am-1pm.

How does it work?
Come to the farm, bring a box or bag if you wish, (we have bags too)
sign on the distribution list, and then proceed down the half share or
full share list on the wall that shows what we are harvesting each week
and what the quantity is for your share size.

Check on the Pick Your Own board to see what flowers and herbs are ready for cutting if you like.

Strawberry Update:
Some strawberries are ripe before our harvest starts on Thursday. For
those of you who would like to stop by and get yours early, the hours
for self-serve *strawberry picking* are weekdays 5-7:30pm. One
strawberry picking per week please--if you pick early in the week,
please don't pick again on Thurs/Fri/Sat to ensure that everyone gets
their share.

Look for the yellow flag out in the field to the right, and berry boxes
up here at the barn and a sign in sheet.

Half shares: 1 box
Full shares: 2 boxes

See you this weekend,

Scott

April 2008

Hello from the farm!

The planting season is in full swing and we are anticipating the first harvest days being June 5, 6 & 7. The greenhouse is overflowing with plants and we are transplanting thousands of broccolis, cabbages, cauliflowers, chard and lettuce heads this week, as well as early tomatoes--it's an exciting time.

You are invited to an Open House
at Goodwill at Homefields Farm
150 Letort Road, Millersville, PA
Thursday, May 8

7-9pm

7:00pm - Gather to catch up with farmers and friends
7:15pm - Tour the farm for a preview of spring crops
8:00pm - Excerpts from "The Real Dirt on Farmer John"*

*film may not be appropriate for small children

You may want to bring:
- A dessert or snack to share
- A friend. We are still accepting members for the season. This
is the perfect chance to introduce curious friends, neighbors or coworkers to the farm so they can find out what a CSA is all about.

RSVP not required but encouraged

March 2008

Hello from the farm,
On this sunny March day we are planting seeds in the greenhouse and very much looking forward to spring, transplanting and harvesting starting in June.  The greenhouse will soon become the whole farm in miniature,
tables filled with all the tomatoes, melons, broccoli, onions and other
transplants that will be planted out when the temperature is right.

If you have not yet signed up for the coming season,

you can print out a form and send it in.

Scott
